According to ancient sources, Aspendos was founded by Greek colonists from Argos after the Trojan War. The city's original name, Estwediiys, appears in Pamphylian inscriptions.

5th Century BC

Persian and Greek Rule

The city came under Persian control and later aligned with the Athenian-led Delian League. It minted its own coins, demonstrating its economic independence and prosperity.

334 BC

Alexander the Great

Dolmus (minibuses) run from Antalya to Serik. From Serik, local transport or taxi to Aspendos (4 km). Tours from Antalya are also popular.
